What we bake

A counter that changes daily.

Everything comes from our ovens. We bake the breads, fold the croissants, fill the pastries, prep the lunch menu and stock the freezer with meals you can take home. The case is built fresh each morning.

Our story

A Wakefield bakery for over a century.

The bakery opened in 1908 under the name Ormes, and it has been a fixture of the village ever since. Few places anywhere can say they have been feeding their neighbours for over a hundred years.

Jenifer and John bought the bakery in 1996 and renamed it The Wakefield Bakery. They have been turning the lights on before sunrise ever since.

Everything is hand made daily, with the freshest ingredients they can offer. Real food, made by hand, the way a village bakery should work.
